Table top assemblage

I have mixed feelings about this assemblage of recyclable materials; it has been collecting dust for 3 years. I thought if I saw it every day that my judgement would clarify by itself. It hasn’t happened. This is a second attempt; maybe putting it out in public will help clarify my feelings. I first tried taking photos of it without anything surrounding it. I didn’t really feel good about it. Then stuff started accumulating around the assemblage and I took more photos; I liked it much more. Since the sculpture is an accumulation of objects and materials, the materials around it help the piece expand into the broader environment.

Credit where it is due: the idea grew out of a memory of tabletop sculptures by Anthony Caro.
